Sandless Refinishing (also called buff & coat) is a hassle free alternative to sanding and refinishing solid and engineered wood floors. This process is a maintenance or sprucing up procedure for floors that have not yet worn to the point of needing a full sand & refinish. Buff and recoat can be done in just a couple of hours. Businesses love this process because we can come in at closing and have the floors dried for opening the next morning.
Our company has provided this service to many schools, churches, sport and gym floors, retail stores, commercial spaces, restaurants and more.
The buff & coat process involves buffing the floors to remove surface scuffs and scratches. Hazelwood Floors uses state-of-the-art floor buffers that hook right up to a vacuum system. This makes the buffing process virtually dust free.
After the floor has been buffed and throughly cleaned, we apply a coating of an odorless, fast drying, fast curing & extremely durable finish. Choose between oil and water-based finish; available in matte, satin, semi-gloss, and gloss. Additional coatings are available for an additional charge.
Note: We do not guarantee a buff and coat unless the floor has been refinished in the last 2-3 years. Floors are often cleaned with a variety of different products that contain many chemicals that are not recommended on floors. Chemical reactions/contaminations can occur if a floor has been cleaned with Murphy's oil, among other chemical cleaners, that can casue an averse reaction to the new coat of polyurethane. The buff and recoat procedure will not remove scratches, dents, or dings that have penetrated the top layer of Finish. Generally, Floors that have not had much attention in 7 years or more will not be able to get away with this process. Also, floors that are discolored, or have areas that the finish has completely worn off can not be recoated.
